Doane could not overcome an overwhelming difference at the free throw line as they fell at No. 5 Briar Cliff University on Saturday afternoon, 78-67. The Tigers were out-shot at the charity stripe, 40-13. The biggest advantage for the Chargers came in the second half where the difference was 28-5 in free throws.

The Tigers led 35-29 at halftime as they shot 48-percent in the first half. The second half wasn't much different offensively as Doane hit on 44-percent of their shots. They did have their share of mistakes though, turning over the ball 36 times and allowing 21 offensive rebounds.

Doane placed four players in double-figures, led by Brittany Lurz' 14 points as she hit three of the Tigers' five three-point baskets. Cheryl Braithwait posted 13 points while Vanessa Munter and Madara Upeniece added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Nicole Skolnick notched a game-high 10 rebounds for Doane to go with five steals. Upeniece and Nicole Anderson each collected five rebounds for the Tigers. Kristine Ortmeier led the Tigers with six assists to go with her eight points.

Liz Grider overcame eight turnovers to post a game-high 31 points on 11-of-28 shooting. Kelsey Evans added 11 points and five steals for the Chargers.
