Track Events - Deejay Silcott, Doane
Doane's Deejay Silcott is the track athlete-of-the-week. Silcott, a senior from El Paso, Texas, won the 55 and 200 meters on Saturday at the Doane Scott Nisely Memorial Classic. Her time of 7.25 in the 55 is an automatic qualifying mark and ranks her 8th in the NAIA.
Field Events - Charista Zehnder, Concordia
Concordia's Charista Zehnder is the field athlete-of-the-week. Zehnder, a senior from Omaha, Nebraska, won the triple jump with a leap of 37-5 at the Doane Scott Nisely Memorial Classic. The jump is an NAIA qualifying mark and GPAC leading measurement. She also placed second in the women's long jump with a mark of 18-7.25. That measurement also qualifies her for nationals and leads the GPAC. On the track she clocked a 7.22 time in the 55 meters in the prelims which is the fastest in the league this year and qualifies her for nationals as well. All three marks rank in the top five in the NAIA.
The 2010 GPAC Indoor Track and Field Championships are Friday and Saturday,
February 19-20. Multi-Events will begin at 1PM on Friday, February 19, at Doane College and the GPAC Championships will begin at 9AM (Multi's) and NOON (General Championships) on Saturday, February 20 at the Devaney Center on the campus of the University of Nebraska
