Nebraska Wesleyan shot 52-percent from the floor as they topped Doane on Wednesday evening in Lincoln, 70-55. The Tigers, meanwhile, were held to 34.5-percent shooting. Midway through the first half, NWU went on a 14-4 run to extend a three point lead to 13. A 5-0 run by the Tigers that included a jumper by Jake Johnson and a three-point play by Trent Schlautman cut the lead to 28-20. Nebraska Wesleyan took a 33-22 lead into halftime.
The Prairie Wolves were able to build their lead to 19 points with 8:44 remaining in the contest. Doane was able to cut the lead to 10 points on two occasions but never into single digits.
Johnson led the Tigers with 15 points on 7-of-15 shooting. Zach Moult added 12 points, going 7-of-7 from the free throw line. Jens Scholl led the Tigers with eight rebounds and Schlautman had a team-high two assists.
