The Doane women's basketball team extending their longest, active winning streak over a GPAC opponent on Tuesday evening by defeating Nebraska Wesleyan. It was the 14th consecutive victory as the Tigers left with a 63-48 victory. Nebraska Wesleyan out-shot the Tigers in the game but Doane forced 29 turnovers and held a 31-10 advantage in points off turnovers. NWU shot 40.5-percent for the game while the Tigers hit 38.2-percent of their shots.
The Tigers got off to a slow start in Lincoln, falling behind 5-0 in the first three minutes of play. Vanessa Munter put the Tigers on the board with a pair of free throws and a basket to pull Doane within a point. Cheryl Braithwait gave the Tigers the lead with a lay-up and Brittany Lurz added a three-point basket to give them a 9-5 advantage.
Nebraska Wesleyan tied the game at 11-all. Doane picked up back-to-back baskets from Madara Upeniece and a bucket from Munter to go six points.
The Prairie Wolves went to a zone defense to shut down the Tiger inside game and the Morgan Dubas Show was about to begin. Dubas hit four three-point baskets in a four minute stretch as Doane built a 12 point lead going into halftime.
Doane built their largest lead of the game early in the second half on a pair of free throws by Kristine Ortmeier that put the Tigers up 46-28.
Dubas led the way for Doane, finishing with 17 points and five three-point baskets. Ortmeier added 14 points and Munter posted 13 points for the Tigers. Four players finished with four rebounds apiece to lead the team. Lurz and Braithwait posted a team-high three assists apiece. Lurz notched a game-high four steals.
Nebraska Wesleyan received 12 points from Sadie Struebing. Mallory Shanahan had a game-high nine rebounds to go with nine points.
