The Doane men's basketball team continued their winning ways on Saturday, upsetting Morningside College, 64-59. It was the Tigers first win in Sioux City since 2002.
The Tigers led early on, building a quick five point lead. Morningside came right back and went on a 17-4 run to take an eight point lead, their largest of the game. Doane chipped away and ended the half with a 5-0 run to cut the lead to 28-26 in favor of the Mustangs.
Morningside controlled the offensive boards in the first half, holding a 16-4 advantage in second chance points.
Doane used a 14-5 run early in the second half to take a five-point lead. The lead wouldn't stand long as Morningside scored seven unanswered points to take a two-point lead, 44-42.
Bryan Meyer tied the game with a basket and Trent Schlautman hit a three-point basket to give the Tigers the lead for good.
Schlautman led all scorers with 15 points, hitting three shots from behind the arc. He also had a game-high three assists and two steals.. Tyler Cyboron added 12 points and Zach Moult finished with 11 points for Doane. Moult had a team-high seven rebounds for Doane.
Morningside was led by Eddie Mars' 12 points and Mitch Carstens' 11 points. Garth Hamilton had a game-high 11 rebounds.
