The Tiger women's basketball team struggled early on but used a 23-4 run to open the second half to pull away from Dana College, 73-45. The Tigers forced 28 turnovers on the evening and held a rebounding edge of 44-29.
Dana opened the game with a 6-0 start and led for most of the first 12 minutes of play. The Tigers took their first lead of the game with 8:08 remaining in the half on a Cheryl Braithwait jumper. The Vikings received back-to-back buckets from Raelene Buschow to take back the lead.
Doane, trailing 20-18 with 7:38 remaining, went on a 16-2 run over four minutes of play to take a 12-point lead and the Tigers led at halftime, 38-27.
The Tigers run to open the second half was led by Vanessa Munter and Braithwait. Munter posted 10 points and Braithwait added seven as Doane put together a 23-4 run to take a 61-31 lead with 9:42 remaining.
For the game, Munter posted 25 points and nine rebounds to go with four steals. Braithwait added 15 points for the Tigers. Kristine Ortmeier added 11 points. Brittany Lurz and Morgan Dubas led the team with three assists apiece.
Dana was paced by Nicole Starns and Tricia Trotter's 10 points apiece. Buschow led the team with five rebounds and Heidi Gowery posted three assists.
