The Tiger women's basketball team tied a school record with 13 made three-point baskets as Doane blitzed No. 7 Mount Marty College, 100-78. Doane hit the century mark for the first time since November 2005.
Doane was behind in the game on two occasions, by two points each time, and Vanessa Munter hit baskets to erase the Lancers' small leads. The Tigers opened the game with a 5-0 start but Mt. Marty came right back with a 7-0 run to take their first lead of the game.
The Lancers took their second lead of the game at 13-11, but Doane responded with a 27-5 run to pull away from the seventh-ranked squad and go ahead 38-18. During the run, the Tigers hit five of their 13 three-point baskets.
Mount Marty was able to chip into the Doane lead and pulled within 13 points at halftime, 46-33, when Michelle Amundson hit a running jumper from behind the three-point arc at the buzzer.
Amundson posted 15 points in the half to lead Mount Marty while Vanessa Munter recorded 14 points for Doane.
The second half belonged to the Tigers and Cheryl Braithwait. Braithwait posted 20 of her game-high 30 points in the half. Mt. Marty cut the Doane lead to 10 points before Braithwait took over. She scored seven points during a 13-2 run for Doane that gave the Tigers a 21-point advantage, 61-40.
Mount Marty was unable to get any closer than 16 points the rest of the way and the Tigers hit the century mark on a left-handed lay-up by Ali Bellinghausen in the closing seconds.
Joining Braithwait in double figures were three Tigers. Vanessa Munter collected 21 points to go with 15 rebounds, five assists and five steals. Morgan Dubas picked up a double-double as well with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Brittany Lurz hit four three-point baskets to finish with 12 points for the Tigers. Braithwait and Dubas each hit three shots from behind the arc.
Mount Marty was led by Jenny Miller's 28 points as she scored 19 in the second half for the Lancers. Amundson added 26 points after hitting five shots from behind the arc. Kendra Schomer finished with 10 points for the Lancers.
Doane out-rebounded Mount Marty, 41-21, while shooting 58.5-percent compared to the Lancers 50.9-percent. The Tigers finished the game 13-of-19 from three-point range while Mount Marty hit 9-of-17.
