Tigers Unable to Rally Versus Hastings

A 10-1 run by Hastings in the second half erased a Doane led and the Tigers were unable to recover, falling 67-61 on Wednesday evening in Crete.  Doane held a lead of seven points in the second half but the Broncos were able to chip away and final put together a run of points to hold off the Tigers.

Hastings was able to jump out to a six point lead in the first half as Jeremiah Slough scored seven of the first 13 Bronco points.  Doane came back with an 8-0 run as four different players scored points.  The two squads went back and forth the rest of the way as Hastings took a 24-21 lead into halftime.

The Tigers opened the second half with a 13-3 run to take a seven point advantage.  Hastings was able to chip away over the next six minutes of play to tie the game.  Doane retook the lead on a Brett Jorgensen dunk but Hastings answered with a three-point basket from Slough.  The Broncos wouldn't trail again as they closed out the win.

Doane was led by Bryan Meyer's 13 points.  Zach Moult added 11 points and eight rebounds.  Jens Scholl posted nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds.  Tyler Cyboron added nine points as well.

Hastings received 21 points from Slough and Waid Vontz.  Jake Marvin posted 10 points for the Broncos.
