Two Doane Soccer players were named to the 2009 NAIA Scholar-Athlete list this past weekend at the NAIA National Soccer Tournaments. To be recognized on the NAIA Scholar-Athlete list, a student must be of at least junior academic standing and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50.
Off the women's soccer team, Kelsey Bryant was named a scholar-athlete. Bryant, a junior from Lincoln, was a starting defender for the Tigers this past fall. She posted one assist on the season for Doane but aided the Tigers as they posted seven shutouts.
The men's soccer team was represented by Bryce Petersen on the scholar-athlete list. Petersen, a junior from Lincoln, posted two assists for Doane this year in 17 games. He started 11 games for the Tigers.
