Doane put their No. 17 ranking on the line on Saturday morning in Sioux Falls and put together a decent showing in the first meet of the season, finishing second in the Nike Heartland Pre-Regional Meet. Concordia, ranked No. 5, won the meet with 18 points and the top three individual finishes. Doane finished with 52 points.
NAIA All-American Sufian Kimo paced the Tigers with a fourth place finish and a time of 25:39.91. Edwin Ronoh was right behind Kimo, finishing sixth with a time of 26:08.73. Jarid Holliday and Scott Ohlson finished 12th and 13th respectively. Holliday ran a time of 26:38.54 while Ohlson finished with a time of 26:46.97.
Paul Garcia ran a time of 27:08.25 to place 18th in the meet. Philip Rohde placed 27th after notching a time of 27:50.47. Jordan Pieper rounded out the Tigers' Top Seven with a 38th place finish and time of 28:14.16.
Doane took three straight spots when Tyler Jackman, Omar Fernandez and Jamil Chehade came across the finish line. Jackman finished 52nd with a time of 28:41.74. Fernandez placed 53rd with a time of 28:42.19 and Chehade was 54th with a time of 28:49.97.
Jory Pflasterer placed 57th with a time of 29:04.86. Zach Sims ran a time of 29:27.96 and placed 63rd. Matt Rosser placed 67th with a time of 29:41.42 while Zach Christensen placed 68th with a time of 29:45.48. Andrew Ohlson ran a time of 31:41.18 to place 90th.
