Tigers Season Comes to a Close

Article Body

The Tiger men's basketball season came to an end on Tuesday evening in Hastings as Doane fell to the Broncos, 76-75, in the First Round of the GPAC Tournament.  Close losses seemed to be the norm this year for the Tigers which is why their 10-21 overall record does not indicate how competitive this team was.

Doane owned a 40-26 halftime lead behind 56-percent shooting in the first half.  Hastings was held to 31-percent from the floor and went 0-of-11 from behind the three-point arc.

In the second half, however, Hastings shot 62-percent from the floor and hit 10-of-15 three-point attempts.  Doane shot 38-percent from the floor in the second half.  The Tigers were unable to get a clean shot off in the final seconds.

Tyler Weatherholt led the team with 19 points and Jake Johnson picked up 18 for the Tigers.  Trent Volk came off the bench to score 13 points.  Jack Lind grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
