The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following men's basketball player-of-the-week for February 9 -February 15, 2009.   Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2008-2009 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Kyle Semprini, Briar Cliff - Guard and Jake Johnson, Doane - Guard
Briar Cliff guard Kyle Semprini and Doane guard Jake Johnson are the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men's Basketball Co-Players-of-the-Week.  

Semprini, a sophomore from Carroll, Iowa, netted nine three pointers on Saturday as the Chargers upset ninth ranked Dakota Wesleyan, 79-64.  For the game he scored 30 points and was 10-18 from the floor (56%) and 9-15 from behind the arc (60%).  The nine three's set a new Briar Cliff single game record.  Semprini leads the GPAC with 85 three-pointers on the season.  Briar Cliff is now 21-6 and 12-4 in league play.

Johnson, a sophomore from Grand Island, Nebraska, averaged 25.5 points a game as Doane won their first two league games of the season.  In a mid-week win over Midland Lutheran, he totaled 29 points and on Saturday he added 22 counters in a win at Northwestern.  It was the Tigers first ever regular season win in Orange City (2-16 all time, including one playoff win).  For the week, he made nine three-pointers while shooting 54% from the floor.  Doane is now 9-19 and 2-14 in GPAC action.
