Doane Falls at No. 3 Northwestern

Article Body
A road trip to Orange City, Iowa, is never easy as Doane fell to No. 3 Northwestern College, 75-63.

Doane trailed throughout much of the first half but kept the Red Raiders in range, trailing by one at halftime, 40-39.  Northwestern shot 47-percent from the floor while Doane was 46-percent but the advantage for the Red Raiders came at the free throw line where they had five more attempts than the Tigers.  Doane also took advantage of Northwestern turnovers, scoring 18 points compared to a pair of points for NWC.

In the second half, the combination of cold Tiger shooting and Northwestern attacking the offensive boards proved too much for Doane.  The Tigers shot 27-percent from the floor and Northwestern picked up eight offensive rebounds which led to nine second chance points in the half.

Lindsay Anderson led Doane with 18 points and nine rebounds.  Hannah Helman added 11 points and eight rebounds.  Kristine Ortmeier came off the bench to chip in nine points.

Becca Hurley led Northwestern with 23 points and Kami Kuhlmann finished with 20.  Randa Hulstein, the reigning NAIA Player-of-the-Week, was held to 11 points (nine from the free throw line) and nine rebounds, both under her season average.
