Doane's Tawny Fye is the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Female Field Athlete-of-the-Week. Fye, a senior from Stratton, Colorado, posted three first place finishes and one third place finish on the week. In the Midland Lutheran Throws Meet she placed third in the hammer (151-05) and took first in the discus (136-01). Both marks provisionally qualified her for the NAIA National Championships. Later in the week at the Nebraska Wesleyan/Doane Dual she won the hammer (148-07) and discus (140). Her discus mark in the dual was a NAIA automatic qualifying mark.
Doane's Jared Schuurmans is the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Male Field Athlete-of-the-Week. Schuurmans, a sophomore from Norfolk, Nebraska, posted four first place finishes and two second place finishes in various throws events last week. In the Midland Lutheran Throws Meet he hit three automatic marks for the NAIA National Championship Meet by winning the discus (160-11) and placing second in the hammer (170-05) and shot put (52-00.50). Later in the week at the Nebraska Wesleyan/Doane Dual he won three events. He won the hammer (153-06.50), discus (158-06), and shot put (52-06). His marks in the discus and shot were NAIA automatic marks.
