Tigers Drop Conference Opener

Article Body

The Tiger men's tennis team dropped their conference opener to Concordia University, 7-2, on Tuesday afternoon in Crete.  Doane had a couple of close matches that could have changed the out-come if they could have picked up points when they needed them.

In singles action, Josh Siske picked up the lone win at No. 1 singles.  He defeated Jon Schleicher in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.  Jace Crist made an impressive comeback before falling to Marcus Herring.  Crist dropped game one, 6-1, but rallied and held on for a 6-4 victory in game two.  He dropped the tie-breaker, 10-7.  Jake Zlatkovsky also rallied from behind but dropped his match at No. 6 singles.  Zlatkovsky lost 6-2 in game one, won game two, 7-5, and dropped the tie-breaker, 10-8.  Adam Fye, Sam Acker and Nolan DeWispelare dropped their matches in straight sets.

In doubles action, Siske and Acker teamed up to defeat Kyle Winter and Travis Sherman, 8-4, in No. 2 doubles.  DeWispelare and Zlatkovsky fell 8-6 to Tim Meyer and Scott Schlesinger at No. 3 doubles.  Crist and Fye fell 8-3 in No. 1 doubles.
