Meet Results
For the second straight year, both the men's & women's track teams found them selves lifting the championship trophy at the GPAC Indoor Championships. The men posted 219.5 points while runner-up Nebraska Wesleyan had 152. The women notched 197 points while Nebraska Wesleyan finished second with 124.33 points.
Tiger athlete brought home individual hardware as well. Abby Schlueter was named the Women's Athlete-of-the-Meet after posting 24 points for Doane. She also receives the honor of 2008 Women's Indoor Athlete-of-the-Year. Paulvince Obuon was named co-Men's Athlete-of-the-Meet as he posted 20 points. Scott VanCura of Hastings College also posted 20 points. Both men earn the honor of Men's Indoor Athlete-of-the-Year.
Doane athletes also earned All-Conference honors by placing in the Top 8 of an event. In total, 55 individuals earned All-Conference honors. Twenty-eight men and 27 women earned points for the Tiger's team standings. Erin Fogarty scored in four events for the women, a team high.
Ten meet records were broken on the day, including three from Doane athletes. Obuon's time of 6.78 in the 60m dash was the only Tiger's record on the men's side. On the women's side, Regan Carlstrom posted a time of 7.75 in the 60m dash while Kym Bennett ran the 1000m run in a time of 2:57.71.
The Tigers notched 17 first place finishes at the meet, nine on the women's side and eight on the men's. On the women's side, in addition to Carlstrom and Bennett's meet records, DeeJay Silcott was victorious in the 200m dash with a time of 25.91. The Tiger relay teams also finished in first place. The 4x400 team of Silcott, Haley Bergstrom, Erin Fogarty and Amanda Kermoade ran a time of 3:59.01. The 4x800 team of Lindsey Wallman, Shari Cumberbatch, Megan Kinney and Bennett ran a time of 9:38.20.
In the field events on the women's side, Gretchen Clark posted the top mark in the high jump. She was the only athlete to go 5-05. Meagan Bauer won the pole vault with a mark of 12-01, a full foot over teammate Ale Cano, who finished second. Schlueter was a double winner, taking the long jump with a mark of 17-06 and the triple jump with a leap of 37-11.50. She won the triple jump on one jump, passing on her remaining jumps in order to participate in the 60m hurdles.
Joining Obuon in the winner's circle on the men's side was Lance Foster. Foster ran the 600 in a time of 1:21.16. Sufian Kimo was victorious in the 3000m run with a time of 8:41.36. The men's relay teams were also victorious. The 4x400 team of Foster, Cody Ingold, Jess Wimmer and Greg Torres ran a time of 3:17.77. The 4x800 team of Scott Ohlson, Justin Cox, Holden Kaliff and Foster posted a time of 7:55.04.
In the men's field events, Trenton Volkmer posted the top mark in the long jump on his first leap. He went 23-07.25 to win the event by five inches. Nick Thixton won the triple jump with a mark of 46-07.50.

Doane athletes will turn their attention towards the NAIA National Track & Field Meet. The meet will run March 6-8 in Johnson City, Tenn. Forrest Gregory is the defending National Champion in the heptathlon and he holds the top mark entering the meet.
