Doane jumped out to a 17 point lead on the No. 2 ranked Northwestern Red Raiders, but a seven minute span that encompassed the end of the first half and beginning of the second would prove to be a deciding factor in Doane's 84-76 loss. Northwestern posted a 20-2 run over the seven minutes to erase Doane's lead.
The Tigers continued to fight back but Deb Remmerde always had an answer as she finished with a game-high 51 points. The Tiger defense limited the remainder of the team to 33 points, which included holding Amy Larson to five points. She entered the game averaging over 17 per game.
Doane was led by Vanessa Munter's 24 points. She was 10-for-10 from the free throw line. Lindsay Anderson added 14 points, five assists and four steals for the Tigers. Hannah Helman posted 12 points for Doane. Alissa Holland came off the bench to add eight points and 11 rebounds.
