In the only scored meet thus far this season, the Tigers put on a dominating performance as they swept the NAIA Meet at Buena Vista University on February 8. Doane also received two record-breaking performances from Meagan Bauer and Regan Carlstrom. Overall, the women won with 215.5 points while Morningside was second with 108.5. The men posted 254 points compared to Hastings' 85.
First, on the men's side, Paulvince Oboun was a double-event winner taking the 55m and 200m dashes. He hit automatic marks in both events. In the 55m dash, he has posted the third best mark in the NAIA while in the 200m dash he has the eighth best time. D'Artagnan Dai'Re is keeping pace with Oboun in both events. He finished second in both, hitting provisional NAIA marks. He has the 10th best mark in the NAIA in the 200m dash.
Jess Wimmer collected the 400m title with a time of 50.87. Lance Foster and Greg Torres took the top two times in the 600m, hitting NAIA automatic marks. Foster ran a time of 1:20.45 while Torres went 1:21.26. Justin Cox won the 800m run with a time of 2:00.43. Wimmer, Foster and Torres teamed up with Shane Hamm-Simpkins to win the 4x400m relay.
In field events, Whit Thomas took first place in the pole vault. Michael Flewelling and Jordan Peterson took second and third, respectively. Maurice Smith won the long jump with a mark of 22-04 while Nick Thixton hit an automatic mark in the triple jump, going 46-10. Jared Schuurmans posted automatic marks in the weight throw and shot put. He finished second in the weight throw and third in the shot put. Mike Tierney finished second in the shot put, hitting an automatic mark.
On the women's side, Regan Carlstrom was a double-event winning, taking the 55m and 200m dash crowns. In the 200m, she topped the school record previously held by Wendy Brouillette. Carlstrom ran a time of 25.71, the old record was 25.85. DeeJay Silcott finished second in both races, hitting a provisional mark in the 200m dash.
Erin Fogarty was also a double-event winner, taking the 55m hurdles and 400m dash. She hit an automatic mark in the hurdles. Fogarty was also a member of the winning 4x400m relay team, joined by Silcott, Haley Bergstrom and Amanda Kermoade. Bergstrom was an event winner, taking the 600m run. Kym Bennett won the 3000m run with a time of 10:28.21, an automatic qualifying time. Viviana Arreola hit a provisional mark in the 5000m run with a time of 18:41.25.
In the field events, Meagan Bauer broke her own school record with a vault of 12-11.75 (officially). The bar was to be raised to 13-00 but due to the meet being measured by the metric system, her mark did not equal the requested inches mark. Mary Kouma and Leah Peterson hit automatic marks as well, going 11-01.
Abby Schlueter won the triple jump with a mark of 38-03. Janelle Weber was second in the triple jump. Schlueter hit a provisional mark in the long jump as well. Kelcey Zutavern hit an automatic mark by winning the shot put. Tawny Fye hit an automatic mark in the weight throw as she finished second.
