Doane jumped out to an impressive 21-6 lead over Dana College on Thursday evening but stumbled as Dana eventually turned a 15 point deficit into a 16 point lead and held on to defeat the Tigers, 77-75. Dana used a 59-28 run over a 22 minute span in the middle of the game. The Tigers did fight back from 10 down with two minutes left to tie the game but Dana hit a lay-up for the win. The loss was the second straight set back in Blair. Doane had won every game over Dana, home or away, the previous 13 years prior to last year's three point loss.
The Vikings were sparked by Tricia Trotter's 25 point effort off the bench. She scored the first 14 points for Dana after they failed to score in the first six minutes of the game. She had 20 of their 24 first half points and went 6-for-6 from three-point range. Amy Nichol had the game-winning shot and finished with 17 points.
Doane was led by Vanessa Munter's 25 points. Lindsay Anderson added a near triple-double with 21 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
