Doane managed a split at the Hastings Thanksgiving Classic, falling to Friends University on the first day and defeating Dakota State University on day two. The Tigers are 4-3 overall.
In the Tiger's game versus Friends University, Doane struggled from the floor in the second half, shooting only 33 percent. Friends won the game 66-50. The Falcons also took advantage of Tiger turnovers, scoring 14 points off of 18 turnovers while Doane did not score following a Friends turnover.
Leading the way in scoring was Dane Cruz. He posted 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Tyler Cyboron added 12 points with Kolby Hamilton posting 10 points and seven rebounds, matching Cruz for team-high honors. Brett McFarland notched four steals for the Tiger defense.
On Saturday, Doane shot 53 percent in the first half and led 52-43 at halftime over Dakota State University. Sparking the Tigers was Dontae Davis. He came off the bench and scored 11 points in the first half while hitting three three-point baskets.
For the game, Cruz led Doane with 21 points while Cyboron added 18. McFarland posted 11 points, eight rebounds, and four steals for Doane. Doane defeated DSU 93-81. Doane reversed their fortune from the day before by out-scoring DSU in points of turnovers 23-8.
