Coaching Staff

Head Coach Paul Harvey was named coach in January 2012 and heads both the men's and women's program.

PRESS RELEASE ANNOUNCING THE ADDITION OF HARVEY TO THE TIGER STAFF
Doane College Athletic Director Greg Heier announced today that Paul Harvey has been selected head men's and women's soccer coach for the Tigers.

Harvey graduated from Newman University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in management. He was a member of the Newman men's soccer team from 1999-2002, earning all-conference honors in all four years and guiding the Jets to a pair of NAIA National Tournament appearances. He also received MCAC Defensive Player-of-the-Year honors in 2000 and 2001.

"We were fortunate to have such a strong group of qualified applicants for this position," Heier commented. "Coach Harvey was selected to interview based on his experience coaching and working with a number of our existing players, his personal experience with athletics and liberal arts education having earned a degree and played soccer at Newman University in Wichita, Kansas, and his experience in coaching soccer at a variety of levels including one of the premier soccer programs in the nation, Creighton University. Ultimately, he was hired because of his contagious enthusiasm for the game of soccer and all the life lessons that can be learned by playing the sport. We look forward to having Coach Harvey join us at Doane College to build on the work Coach Greg Jarosik did in establishing Doane as a top level competitor in the GPAC conference."

Harvey takes over the Doane Soccer programs after Jarosik took a position at William Penn University in Iowa, a move made for family reasons.

Harvey has served as an assistant coach at Newman University (2003-04) and as a volunteer assistant at Creighton University (2004-10). Most recently, he has served as Soccer Club Director of Coaching for the Nebraska Futbol Club, Inc., in Omaha.

While at Newman, he assisted with both soccer programs, with the women's squad earning NAIA Top 20 rankings. At Creighton, Harvey helped the Bluejays to five consecutive NCAA Tournament Appearances, including a pair of Elite 8 finishes in 2005 and 2009. The Jays' coaching staff earned Missouri Valley Conference Coaching Staff-of-the-Year in 2008. Outside of soccer, the Bluejay team was recognized for their community service in 2008-09 by the athletic department.

Harvey makes the return to NAIA coaching and said he felt like Doane was a good fit for the move.

"I've been to Doane a few times and it is a very nice campus with a good location and very good academics," Harvey said. "Now I want to take these teams that have been good the last few years and get them to the next level. I've learned a lot in coaching over the years and that it is not all about ‘Xs' and ‘Os' but also about working hard and having fun."

The Tiger programs have been GPAC title contenders over the past few years. Last season, the women's team took second place in the conference with a 9-1 GPAC record. They will graduate one senior from the team. The men's team earned runner-up honors in the 2010 season.
