1974 was a great year for the Doane College Tennis Team. They achieved their goal by winning the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) District 11 championship and the NIAC (Nebraska Intercollegiate Athletics Conference) title. The NIAC title was taken without the loss of a single match, a first in the history of the conference.
In the conference tournament Doane used nine players, all of whom were champions in their divisions. Doane won the tournament with a record number of points, 117. The next closest opponent scored 47 points. Doane also won the District 11 Division NAIA without the loss of a single set.
