FACULTY POSITIONS

Doane College invites applications for the following full-time, tenure-track positions beginning fall 2009. Doane College, founded in 1872, is a nationally recognized, traditional residential liberal arts and sciences college located in Crete, Nebraska that enrolls approximately 900 students. Doane's faculty are inspired as teachers, committed first and foremost to teaching and mentoring in an innovative and collaborative teaching environment. Preference will be given to candidates who want to engage students in research and teach in the honors program and first-year seminar program. Faculty are collectively exploring the addition of more interdisciplinary courses, particularly through learning communities, to enhance the intellectual activity of students. As a part of its strategic plan, the College hopes to establish a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. Assistant Professor of Art. Responsibilities include teaching all art history courses and some studio classes. The art department serves majors, including future teachers, and non-majors in a beautiful, new art facility opened in 2007. The successful candidate will be a generalist in art history with an ability to teach studio classes in drawing, design, painting or printmaking. Knowledge of current trends in graphic design and experience in managing a permanent art collection helpful. Ph.D. in art history preferred; M.F.A. in studio art considered.
Assistant Professor of Biology. Ph.D. in Biology. Teaching responsibilities include cell biology, physiology, anatomy and other courses in applicant's area of expertise. Supervise student research in areas complementing strengths of department.
Assistant Professor of Finance. Ph.D. in Finance with graduate work in accounting. Teaching responsibilities include Finance, International Trade, Investments, Financial Institutions Management, Advanced Financial Management, and Intro to Advanced Accounting.
Assistant Professor of Spanish. Ph.D. in Spanish. Generalist to teach all Spanish courses including elementary, intermediate and advanced language classes; literatures and cultures of Latin America and Spain. Interest in preparing teachers of Spanish and developing community linkages. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and fluency in English.
Assistant Professor of Sociology. Ph.D. in Sociology with emphasis in Criminal Justice. Generalist with ability to teach all criminal justice classes and introduction to sociology. Supervise student research in criminal justice.
Qualifications for all positions: Experience in a liberal arts college desirable. Prior teaching experience preferred. Doane seeks candidates who thrive in a collaborative, creative teaching environment.
