The demand for business professionals who have a solid grasp of foreign languages and differing cultures has never been greater. Doane College combines international business courses with foreign language studies to provide an ideal business emphasis for students interested in a variety of careers.
Program Offerings
Doane College is committed to providing the opportunities and environment for students to develop analytical and creative thought processes to make effective and ethical business-related decisions. One of the offerings in the Division of Business and Economics is a business administration major with an emphasis in international business. In addition to studying a foreign language, students with an international business emphasis choose from course offerings, including:
- Intercultural Communication
- International Finance
- International Management
- International Marketing
- Comparative Economic Systems
- International Trade
Within the Foreign Languages Department, students are immersed in their language major in order to attain a high level of proficiency, an understanding of other cultures, and a well-rounded education. Foreign languages available are:
French: major and minor
German: major and minor
Spanish: major and minor
Study Abroad
Doane REQUIRES all students with language majors to study abroad for a semester. Academic advisers work closely with students to plan for study abroad activities. Doane students generally attend the following:
- Sorbonne University in Paris
- Goethe Instituts in Germany
- Universities in Spain or several other Latin American countries
