The department of philosophy and religious studies offers students the opportunity to explore deep-rooted values and ideals that play a role in shaping the world, its people, and cultures.
- The religious studies major highlights the study of the Jewish-Christian-Islamic traditions, focusing on historical and cultural background.
- Coursework includes the Book of Genesis, Old Testament archaeology, New Testament archaeology, the Book of Revelation, religion and culture in the Middle East, and other topics. The major culminates in a comprehensive examination and thesis.
Majors Combinations
Students are strongly encouraged to combine a religious studies major with another major at Doane, in any of the college's disciplines. Strong combinations include sociology, biology, business administration, English, education, or a foreign language.

Requirements for a Religious Studies Minor
Complete 18 credits of Religious Studies and Philosophy courses.
