Research Opportunities
Psychology students complete a senior seminar research project which is required of all students. Psychology majors work with one another to design and implement research projects on topics of personal interest.
Students also have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty members in ongoing research projects through Doane College's undergraduate summer research program, an honor lab or through individual work with a professor. Such research projects have included: social perceptions of sexual assault victims, coping strategies in reaction to the break-up of romantic relationships, gender stereotyping, judgments of responsibility about victims of crime and other negative events, counterfactual thinking, and barriers to mental health service utilization in underserved populations.
Many students also present their research at the Great Plains Psychology Conference, the Nebraska Psychological Society Conference, and Doane College's Mind Expo.
