Careers In Biology


Many of Doane's recent biology graduates are employed in the science-related industry, in environmental work such as wildlife programs and teaching, and in medical, pharmaceutical and allied health laboratories. Recent alumni are doctors, horticulturalists, clinical analysts, lab technicians, microbiologists, engineers, veterinarians and chemists, at such diverse organizations as Henry Doorly Zoo, Wyoming Medical Center, MDS Pharma Services, Lothrop Animal Clinic, Quest Diagnostics, Pfizer, and Partech.

Outcomes

  • About two-thirds of Doane biology students enter some area of allied health such as physical therapy, medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, forensic science, nursing, or medical technology.
  • More than 40 Doane graduates are currently pursuing master's and doctorate degrees in biology-related fields such as agronomy, anatomy, botany, exercise physiology, forestry, genetics, molecular biology, and zoology.
  • Graduates pursuing advanced study are attending such institutions as University of Toronto, Texas A&M, Duke University, University of Chicago, the Mayo Clinic, Georgetown University, Creighton University, and University of Nebraska Medical Center.
