MISSION STATEMENT
To meet future expectations for our nation's schools, the Doane education faculty believes the education of teachers and administrators is a developmental emergent process. We believe the process embraces the 10 Doane Education Standards through Professional Roles, Professional Growth, Professional Development, and Professional Studies. We believe these elements create practices grounded in reflective, deliberate, and collaborative work.
Professional Growth Four themes to promote growth run throughout the program. These include establishing collaborative opportunities, promoting reflective inquiry tied to action research, providing leadership experience focusing on group processes.
| Professional Roles The standards are essential elements for the development of teachers. As part of the process for development, the roles of the educational professional include learner, teacher, researcher, and leader.
|
Professional Development The Doane Teacher Education Program promotes the professional development of teachers from pre-service to in-service practice through practicum courses. All programs are built on knowledge base(s) which support the 10 Doane Education Standards.
| Professional Studies General and pedagogical studies encourage students working toward initial certification to develop and integrate content knowledge into practice.
