DOANE COLLEGE ENROLLMENT DAYS
The primary purpose of this first stage is to have you register for classes and get your initial questions answered.
What to Expect
The Enrollment Day program allows you to meet with an individual faculty member to help you select and enroll in courses for the fall semester. You also attend sessions which introduce different aspects of college life, such as living on campus and the expectations of being a Doane College student. Special programs are held for your parents and family as well to help answer their questions. The goals of Enrollment Days are to have students leave with a copy of their fall course schedule and a better sense of what college life will be like. You will be sent information about Enrollment Days in late spring and must attend one of the sessions offered.
Technology
Find out what you need to know about technology on campus.
- Login to the network
- Access the campus intranet, email, blackboard and webadvisor
- Get information on what software and security is needed on your computer
- Meet the helpdesk staff and find out how they can assist you
- Online loan applications can also be completed in the computer lab during Enrollment Days
Advising
What time is my first class? Where is my class located? Who's the professor?
All your questions will be answered and fears calmed when you meet with an adviser in your major, to help you with your class schedule.
The Doane Community
Starting college is a great opportunity to get to know people. It can also be a little intimidating, so we'll work on some easy starter tips to get the conversations rolling.
Residence Life
Residence Life staff are students just like you so they know about living on campus, going to class and the social life of a college student. They are also aware of the rules of the residence halls and can help when you are in need of a mentor or support person.
- Meet with Residence Life Staff
- Talk about policies on campus like parking and hall rules
- Get the scoop on activities, professors, and the inside information you need on dealing with a roommate
Community Service and Orientation Leaders
- Find out what role community service plays at Doane
- What kinds of community service is available
- Ask orientation leaders what it's like to be a student at Doane
Other events taking place on Enrollment Day include:
- Meet with the Health and Wellness Office to get any health records information turned in or updated. If you haven't already received your Meningitis shot, those can be given at this time
- Eat lunch in the cafeteria
- Take a tour of some of the sample residence halls in Sheldon, Frees, and Smith.
