The Doane Chapter of SDP, Phi Omega, was inducted in 2005. This honorary society is open to Spanish majors or minors who have demonstrated interest in the Spanish language and the various Hispanic cultures. Activities have included movie nights, open to all students; salsa dancing; cooking classes; speakers on various topics relating to Hispanic cultures; panels of students who have returned from semesters abroad; service projects such as a Day of the Dead fundraiser for educational materials for Mexican street children; helping with a bilingual story hour at the Crete Public Library.
