The Doane College Semester in Africa is a unique program offering firsthand knowledge of the people, culture, traditions, history, language, and arts of countries in Eastern, Central, and Southern Africa.
The semester is a combination of travel and study, with several long-stays in Arusha, Tanzania; Lamu, Kenya; and Nkhata Bay, Malawi. Students take a full schedule of classes, including African Studies, African Literature, Writing, and Swahili. Travel is overland, via dalladalla, matatu, train, and bus as well as air. The semester includes several wildlife safaris, historic tours, museums, and cultural performances.
Countries include: Ethiopia, Kenya,Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa.
