Here's a message from Isaac Kinyanjui (wildlife guide and naturalist who visited Doane this past spring) whom our volunteers will be staying with.
Habari ya Marafiki,
I want to officially welcome you to my home and also to my village. On behalf of the Kinyanjui family do feel very welcomed and free to do as you would in your homes. My house is your house. KARIBU SANA. As you prepare to journey to Africa, our hearts and souls are filled with goodwill prayers and thoughts of your safe arrival. Do not worry about the cultural difference that nature has dictated but do absorb with a willing smile the many similarities we share non superior to the other. All am trying to say is KARIBU to the mother land
Your ever friend

Hello everybody! Just wanted to let you all know that I am alive and well. We are still staying in Isaac's apartment, but will leave for the village tomorrow. I am so excited and also a bit freaked out. I don't how often I will be able to email everybody. I will not often have the opportunity to get to internet and reply to letters, but I will try my best. I love you all! Love, Shawna... or NaNa, if you like!

Hi Everyone! Shawna and I arrived safely last night around 9 pm, and we didn't even get lost in any huge airports. All the flights went well, although neither of us slept much. Isaac, Joice and their two girls were waiting when we arrived. Today we are running around Nairobi, getting things we need before we head to Ng'aura (the village). We're both pretty tired but its great to be back. It almost feels like we never left. Well, Shawna is waiting to write home so I need to make this short, but I hope all is well back home. We are heading to the village tomorrow, so I am not sure when I will be able to email again but we will definitely write sometime when I have more to tell you, about the village, school etc. Write me!!! Love, Amy
