Hi Everyone,
We arrived by train early this afternoon and will do our wine tasting tour tomorrow. Stellenbosch is a beautiful college town, the second oldest city (next to Cape Town) in South Africa. Dutch architecture, landscaped gardens and boulevards. The countryside does look like European wine country---green hills and mountains. Today we're exploring and its fun to walk around a smaller city. Our hostel is the Stumble Inn, which is probably what we'll do after a day of wine tasting.
Emily Levine just sent me the link to the University of Nebraska Press with the listing of my book. www.nebraskapress.unl.edu/bookinfo/5157.html
Let me know what you think. I'm excited (thanks Emily).
I can't understand why the tapas restaurant in Lincoln wasn't successful. There are so many here in the South African cities and they are wonderful. It's hard to beat a restaurant where you can try lots of goodies as well as taste wines. I tried a '93 Chardonnay yesterday that I think June Levine would enjoy. Lisa, Jody, and Becky would love Cape Town (the coffee is excellent)---and too many of you to name individually (except for the New Yorkers who have it all, right?)
We all like Cape Town and yet most of us miss Kenya, Malawi, Ethiopia, and Zambia for all kinds of complicated reasons. You will undoubtedly hear the stories and see the photos. Meanwhile, I hope you are all well.
Take care,
love, Betty
