
An institutional member of the
National Collegiate Honors Council, the Doane College Honors Program enrolls a small group of exceptional first-year students every year. As a member of our regionally acclaimed Honors Program, you will enjoy many benefits in addition to your general Doane education:
- Generous financial aid for study abroad opportunities
- Funding to attend two off-campus events per semester
- Early registration--you may register one class ahead of your own in order to ensure that your courses are always available to you
- Special seminars presented by Doane faculty only for Honors students
- Access to laptops exclusively reserved for Honors students
- Opportunities to invite speakers of your choice for campus seminars, as well as a variety of dinners, contests, and other events specifically designed for Honors students
Program Requirements
As an Honors Program student, you are expected to maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or above through all four years at Doane, as well as fulfill the following requirements:
- Study abroad—preferably for an entire semester—at one of the many locations recommended by Doane (yes, you may use your travel scholarship toward this trip)
- Be part of a team that designs and executes an independent research project and help present it to the entire community of Doane scholars at a public event
- Participate in a one-credit seminar each semester, except the one you spend studying abroad
