Get Educated About Relationships

GET EDUCATED
(on relationships)

This site is tailored to educate students about just how common it is to be in abusive relationships.  Abuse in relationships can be seen in many ways including physical and emotional forms of abuse.

Couple disagreementWe have created this site not only to show the prevalency rates that are staggering, but also to help those who may be in an abusive relationship or know somone who is.  In order to do that we have created a few links that you can check out.

There is a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page that answers some questions you may have.  A Resource page that provides a great list of resources found in the surrounding area.  A support wall to allow people to leave messages for those coming to this site for guidance.  And a whole page dedicated to giving a warning or checklist to see if you or anyone you know could be in an abusive relationship.

Remember, this site is not going to give you all the answers you may be looking for; but we are trying to give students a place to come to to get questions answered and for support.

Hopefully this website will be able to reduce the stigma that is surrounding abusive relationships.

Of the women who reported being raped and or physically assaulted since the age of 18, three-quarters (76%) were victimized by a current or former husband, cohabitating partner, date, or boyfriend.

On average, three people are arrested in Lincoln each day for assaulting their partners. Arrests represent a fraction of the actual assaults.  It’s estimated that law enforcement contacts represent well under half the actual domestic assaults occuring in Lancaster County.Domestic violence is the most common cause of nonfatal injury to women in the United States.

Between 19 and 30 percent of women seeking care in emergency rooms are battered women.  The American Medical Association says domestic violence is more common than automobile accidents, muggings, and rapes combined as a cause of injury.About 25 percent of women who attempt to commit suicide are domestic violence victims.
