Music study requires skills in critical thinking, oral perception, and self-evaluation. Doane offers three music degree programs: general music (often combined with another major), music performance, and music education. Discover more about the music program by following the links located in the left sidebar.

Music Education - The Music Education degree is for Nebraska students who are interested in becoming elementary and secondary school music teachers. This is the largest music degree program at Doane with over 30 majors. Students who are planning to be teachers are encouraged to join the Music Educators National Conference (MENC), the largest professional music organization for teachers in the United States. Membership and the requisite privileges and publications augment classroom work in the field of music education and expand the knowledge and horizons of future music educators.
Music Performance - The Music Performance Degree is designed for students who have aspirations to be performers on their chosen instrument.
Music - This major allows students to couple a degree in music with another emphasis, such as business or psychology. Students who pursue this degree can move into just about anything from performing professionally to going to medical school.
