The English as a Second Language degree offered at Doane College in Nebraska is intended to provide an education in the teaching of English to speakers of other languages. This major does not provide certification for American public school teaching, but is intended to prepare students for teaching English in non-English-speaking countries. Internship possibilities through Doane's International Program provides unique training opportunities for students in Doane College's ESOL studies program.

The Doane College Teacher Education Program is accredited by the North Central Association, the State of Nebraska and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
