Daniel Jackman with the International Management class.Dan Jackman's Appearance

Professor Deryl Merritt's International Management class was fortunate enough to listen to Doane College alumnus Dan Jackman speak about his experiences in the global marketplace. Jackman has spent the past five years as chief financial officer of Waste Management Siam Ltd., a company providing comprehensive waste management services to industrial, commercial, and municipal customers. Jackman and his wife, Brenda Bence, reside in Bangkok, Thailand.  Specifically, the group of International Management students inquired as to the potential possibilities of taking Doane College to international markets. Jackman's first hand experiences and insight provided crucial points of interest for the International Management students. The class plans to craft a detailed proposal to move Doane College further into the international education arena.

Doane Promotions Management ClassIn the Marketing World, What Does It Take to Become Successful?

Rich Claussen defines success in an unusual way. Using 11 tenets, his definition is touching yet humorous. Claussen recently spoke to the Doane Promotions Management class about the marketing industry and what it takes to become a success. Using stories along with the 11 tenets, he advised students to redevelop the curiosity of a child, to trim the unnecessary and to put all their eggs in one basket. Claussen challenged the students to understand that success is not defined by money. He told them money would come, but first they need to take care of the details, to be optimistic and to be original. Kathleen Rathje Zumpfe teaches the junior-level class.
