Summer Projects:
Daniel Wolfe, working with Dr. Elder, is conducting research this summer. His work will investigate the potential for caffeine mitigation by aquatic protist.
Amy Sherwood, working with Dr. Elder, is conducting research this summer. She will be investigating the effects of pollution on invertebrate communities on the Doane campus and in the Crete area.
Charlotte Phelps, working with Dr. Elder, is conducting research this summer. She will be investigating the effects of full-spectrum lighting on the health of various zoo animals.
Charissa Jergensen, working with Dr. Elder, is studying the effects of emissions from coal power plants on adjacent plant communities. She will be presenting her work at MindExpo this spring.
Meredith Meyer, working with Dr. Elder, is studying the recovery of the APRS tallgrass restoration project. Her project has expanded to restoring portions of her parents’ land in Roca to tallgrass prairie. She will be presenting her work at the Nebraska Academy of science and MindExpo this spring.
Michael Wellsandt, working with Dr. Elder, has conducted a literature review of the evolutionary history of many major phyla this summer. This project will update an evolutionary learning tool which will be published in an online format to assist teachers around the world. He will be presenting his work at MindExpo this spring.
Ellie Windle, working with Dr. Elder, is beginning her senior research project a year early. She is looking at the effects of the menstrual cycle on the buildup of Lactic acid in female athletes.
