Public Administration

This undergraduate program is designed to prepare individuals for careers in public service and not-for-profit organizations, and for the further development of those already in professional and para-professional careers. Graduates include members of law enforcement agencies; firefighters; employees of federal, state, and local government agencies; politicians; and paid employees of volunteer organizations.

As an interdisciplinary major, Public Administration combines coursework from business, economics, sociology, political science, human relations, and communication.

In addition to those who wish to complete a professional degree for careers in public service, Public Administration is recommended for people who seek to continue beyond the bachelor's degree to a degree in law.

Approximately 160-180 students major in one of the four areas in the Division of Economics and Business.

  • In introductory courses, class size is approximately 25-30 students
  • In upper-level courses, class size averages approximately 15 students, depending on the area of study
