2008 African Adventure

African Adventure in 2008

Professor Betty Levitov will lead her sixth tour of Africa, which includes a safari with Kenyan wildlife guide Isaac Kinyanjui.

  • Visit Kenya, Tanzania and Zanabar.
  • Observe the big five:  rhino, Cape buffalo, leopard, elephant, and lion.
  • Witness the annual wildebeest migration on a safari to the Masaai Mara.
  • See thousands of flamingoes and hundreds of other species of birds at Lake Nyakuru.
  • Snorkel or scuba dive in the Indian Ocean among coral, giant turtles and tropical fish.
  • Travel north on Zanzibar island for a spice tour and taste the wonderful flavors in Swahili cuisine.
  • Walk the winding, narrow streets of Stone Town, Zanzibar and see the famous 13th century carved doors.

If you've been before, you know the excitement, the beauty and the incredible memories this adventure will provide.

Levitov took her first group of students to Africa for an interterm trip in 1996 and completed her fifth trip in 2006.  To get an idea of the experience, read Levitov's book Africa on Six Wheels: A Semester on Safari.
