This interterm will give you an opportunity to explore both urban and small town indigenous cultures of Mexico. You will participate in language programs in Cuernavaca and Tepoztlán, Mexico, and will live with a Mexican family for two weeks. Excursions to the ancient ruins of Xochicalco, the colonial mining town of Taxco, a hike to the Temple of Tepozteco, and four days in Mexico City and Teotihuacan will provide you with an overview of the diversity of cultures in Mexico. From murals by Diego Rivera to great cathedrals and bustling markets, students will be surrounded by the richness of Mexico's history and arts.
Learning Objectives: You will 1) become acquainted with Mexican history, culture, and social issues; 2) study intensive Spanish for two weeks; 3) participate in a brief service learning project; 4) practice survival Spanish in a home-stay environment.
