PROGRAM

POSTERS: HELPFUL HINTS & REMINDERS

  • Poster presenters will have a 4’ x 4’ Styrofoam board available on which to place their poster.  Since the boards will be attached to hallway walls, it will be possible to display all of the posters for the entire conference.  Good quality (extra sticky) two-sided tape works best for attaching the posters to the boards.

  • Authors will be required to be available for questions during either 9:15 to 10:15 (Poster session 1) or from 10:30 to 11:30 (Poster session 2).  The specific session to which you will be assigned will be indicated in the conference program.

  • It may be helpful to have brief handouts available for those interested in your poster, although this depends in part on the nature of your study.

ORAL PRESENTATIONS: HELPFUL HINTS AND REMINDERS

  • Your talk is limited to 12 minutes, with 3 minutes for questions.  Be sure to practice your talk so that you have it timed correctly.

  • It may be helpful to provide a brief handout to your audience.  This depends entirely upon the nature of your study, but it is something to consider.  If you do decide to provide a handout, bring about 20 copies.

  • Remember that presentations will be made via PowerPoint on PCs (no Macs) equipped with USB ports for “flash drives” and also CD drives.  For back up, please bring a paper copy and a transparency copy of your presentation, just in case there is a technology-related difficulty.

  • Finally, don’t assume that your particular presentation room will have easy access to email or the internet, so plan accordingly.
