Graduation:  2006 Undergraduate
Doane has one graduation ceremony a year in May.  The next commencement is May 16, 2010.  The ceremony, for all campus locations, is at the beautiful Cassel Open Air Theatre at the Doane Campus in Crete, Nebraska. 

GRADUATION CEREMONIES
Lincoln and Grand Island Undergraduate, Master of Education, Master of Arts in Counseling, and Master of Arts in Management ceremony is at 10:00 am. 

Crete Undergraduate ceremony is at 2:30 p.m. 

GUESTS
You may bring as many guests as you wish. There's lots of space. Please advise your guests to arrive 45 minutes prior to the ceremony or earlier. Early arrival assures a better chance for a good parking place and the best seat for the ceremony.  Cassel Open Air Theatre is handicap accessible, and special seating will be offered for those in wheelchairs.

PARKING
There are over 900 parking spots on campus, parking is plentiful.  To ease traffic flow, attendants will direct all guest to enter one way off of 13th Street by Fuhrer Field Hourse.  Overflow parking will be available at Crete High School with a shuttle running to Cassel Open Air Theatre.  Handicapped parking is available in the Communication Building parking lot.

WEATHER
The ceremony will be held outdoors even if it is cold or lightly raining.  Please dress accordingly.  If the ceremony needs to be moved indoors due to extremely poor weather, such as a heavy rain, it would be in the Fuhrer Field House. 

PICTURES
The Picture Man will be taking individual photographs of graduates during the ceremony.  These photographs will be available for purchase via the mail.  Family and friends are welcome to leave their seats to take photos and video at the front of the stage; however, please do not interfere with the professional photographer or videographer.

CAMPUS HOSPITALITY
Common Grounds Coffeehouse is located in the basement of Perry Campus Center.  They will be open to serve coffee, fruit smoothies, and water as well as pastry items.

BACCALAUREATE
Baccalaureate celebrates the achievements of the graduates in a spiritual setting. This Baccalaureate service continues to be a tradition at Doane College because of its historical relationship with the United Church of Christ.  You are invited to participate in the services, but are certainly not required to attend.

Baccalaureate Services are scheduled the Saturday before graduation.
10:00 a.m. line up on the patio south of Perry Campus Center for the Baccalaureate procession. In case of rain, meet inside Tiger Inn.  You will wear your cap and gown.
10:30 a.m. Baccalaureate service in Heckman Auditorium in the Communications Building 

ALUMNI BANQUET
This event honors previous graduates of Doane College and welcomes the new alumni. It is held the Saturday before graduation at 5:30 p.m. in the Perry Campus Center dining room. Close to graduation time, you will receive further information from the Alumni Office about the banquet. 

PRESIDENT'S CONCERT
Immediately following the Alumni Banquet, at approximately 8:00 or 8:30 p.m. come to Heckman Auditorium in the Communication Building to hear the Doane College Choir and Band in their last performance of the year.

GRADUATION DIPLOMA & ACCOUNT CLEAN-UP
If you expect a diploma in the folder Dr. Brand hands you on graduation day, your account balance must be paid-in-full (including promissory notes) the Thursday prior to graduation.  If your account is not PAID in FULL (including all credit-by-exam and portfolio credit), you will receive an empty folder during Commencement. Your diploma will be sent to you when your account is paid and requirements are completed.  If you have a problem with this deadline, contact the business office in Crete at 800.333.6263.

WHO IS INVITED
Students that have completed graduation requirements within the past year are invited to attend the May ceremony.  This includes students that completed the previous August (and have not already walked), October, December, and March.
