Community Service

New students performing community service during orientation.

At Doane College, we believe in the philosophy "to lead is to serve" and teaching students the importance of serving the communities where they live and work. The Community Service Office provides opportunities for Doane students to engage in service and social justice activities. The office maintains a working database of service opportunities for students and organizations who desire to volunteer their time and efforts.  The coordinator will work with faculty to help facilitate service learning experiences for their classrooms.  The office also records any type of community service performed by students and organizations to keep track of the number of hours Doane students volunteer throughout the school year.

The Community Service Office sponsors such annual events as Alternative Spring Break and the Community Appreciation Day, held in conjunction with new student orientation in the fall.

The office is located in the lower level of the Perry Campus Center.  Karla Cooper serves as the Coordinator of Service Programs and Campus Chaplain.
