Driver Certification Procedure for Staff/Faculty
Step 1: Bring your driver's license to the business office. We will copy it for our files and submit the information to our insurance company. They will run a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR). You must have a clean driving record to be able to drive Doane vehicles.
Step 2: Watch a Van Driver Safety video (available at Perkins Library).
Driver Certification Procedure for Students
Requirements:1) student must be a member of a legitimate campus organization 2) organization must have a legitimate purpose for requesting the use of a vehicle 3) individual making the request should have the approval of one of the organizations officers and the sponsor 4) organization must have sufficient funds to cover trip expenses 5) student must have a valid driver's license.
Please follow the steps below if you would like to become a certified driver.
Step 1: Before you can schedule your bus driver's physical, you must bring your driver's license to the business office. We will copy it for our files and submit the information to our insurance company. They will run a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR). You must have a clean driving record to be able to drive Doane vehicles.
You will receive a physical and signature sheet for use in step three.
Step 2: After you are approved, we will e-mail you.
Step 3: After you receive the approval e-mail, you may call the Crete Area Medical Center Clinic @ 826.2102 and schedule an appointment for a school bus driver's physical. Your sports physical DOES NOT apply. The organization for which you are driving will pay for the physical.
BEFORE you have the physical form completed, please obtain the following signatures:
- Student Organization Sponsor
- Student Organization Officer
AFTER you have the physical, obtain the signatures from:
- Student Life Office
- Business Office
Step 4: Watch a Van Driver Safety video (available at Perkins Library)
Step 5: Schedule a hands-on training session with the fleet manager at 826.8218.
When you have completed the above steps, you will be certified and can drive for any group on campus for a period of one year from the date of your physical.
