Position Title: Doane Safety Administrator

Position Summary:
Doane safety administrators (SA) are responsible for supporting the college's mission by assisting in the development of a safe and healthy campus environment. SA's will provide a visible presence and offer support to all community members in areas related to safety and security. Assigned to a daytime, evening or night shift, SA's will provide comprehensive resources to the college including calls-for-service, emergency response, report writing, parking enforcement, evening escorts, lockouts, programming and event staffing.
Essential Responsibilities:
- - Report writing for all issues related to safety and security for the college
- - Desk work and patrols dependant on Doane community needs
- - Safety staffing for campus events
- - Responsible for an 8 hour shift/5days a week (as scheduled by the AD)
- - On call 24/7 during assigned weeks (as scheduled by the AD)
- - On call 24/7 during any campus emergency
- - Campus escorts when requested
- - Assistance with campus lock outs
- - Coordinating and scheduling of assigned student and guard staff
- - Data entry utilizing IR, and entry system software
- - Daily duty log reporting
- - Safety and security programming during assigned shift
- - Maintains an excellent working relationship with local law enforcement and EMS
- - Maintains an excellent working relationship with the Doane Residence Life staff
- - Assists with college emergency response planning, training and execution
- - Assists with training and evaluation of contracted guards
- - Performs patrols of campus by foot, bike and auto
- - Assists with campus parking enforcement
Level of Decision Making:
- Authority to enforce all campus policies are directed by the Doane College Student Handbook
- Authority to utilize all available community resources to ensure the safety and service to the students of Doane College
Budget Management:
Financial decision-making authority:
- - Authority to act within policy guidelines and experience during a safety or security emergency that requires immediate action to ensure a safe outcome to the situation.
Other:
Day Shift SA:
- - Coordinates campus parking enforcement program
- - Assists with desk responsibilities and phone operations to ensure 24/7 availability to the Doane community.
- - Prepares daily crime/activity log for the campus
- - Supports and coordinates the offices involvement in staff, faculty and student orientations
Event Shift SA:
- - Supervises, schedules and coordinates work study assignments for the office
- - Supervises contracted guard services when applicable
- - Coordinates safety staffing for all campus events with campus event staff
- - Coordinates the safety offices programming and training activities.
Night Shift SA:
- - Supervises contracted guard services when applicable
- - Coordinates the campus "keyless entry" program to ensure accurate entry, deletion and updating of students, faculty and staff utilizing the system.
- - Maintains a record of all approved students utilizing facilities after hours
- - Develops and implements the campus "Gotcha" crime prevention program
- - Develops and maintains a support network for RLO staff that are "on-duty" in the residential facilities.
Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:
- - Excellent communication and report writing abilities a must
- - Experience working with a college community in a visible and responsible role
- - Training in emergency response, safety, security or similar activities
- - Experience in working with crowds and speaking in public
Education/Training:
- Bachelors Degree strongly preferred
