Challenge yourself to earn your college degree at Doane College.  Whether you wish to advance in your current career, increase your earning potential, change careers, or fulfill your educational goal, a Doane College degree can do wonders for your future.  At Doane College, you will join an institution where exceptional faculty, staff, students, and alumni challenge themselves to achieve success and provide the best education for all students.

Why should I consider Doane College?
Founded in 1872, Doane College is the oldest independent college in Nebraska, serving traditional and nontraditional students.  With campuses in Crete, Lincoln, and Grand Island, the college offers instruction in the liberal arts and related professional areas.  At both the undergraduate and graduate levels, Doane is committed to student-centered education characterized by close student-teacher interaction.  The purpose of Doane College is to educate students to serve and lead in Nebraska, the nation, and the world.

At Doane College, we build our program around our students. We keep our classes small, put great teachers in the classroom, and believe that a student is the most important person who walks through our doors.  We offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs, with classes offered at times when working adults can go to school.  Academic, career, and financial aid advising are also available at times that fit the busy schedules of working adults.

Is Doane College Accredited?
Doane College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education, the Nebraska State Department of Education, the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs, and by other standardizing agencies. Documentation of Accreditation may be viewed upon request in the Doane College President's Office.  Doane College is a founding institution for the Association of Nontraditional Students in Higher Education (ANTSHE) and PINNACLE, the national honor society for nontraditional students.

How are classes scheduled and when do they meet?
Terms vary slightly each year.  Most courses are offered in an eight-week intensive format.  During the eight-week term, students attend one class session each week for each course in which they are enrolled.  Evening classes meet from 6:00pm until 10:30pm.  Morning classes meet from 8:00am until 12:30pm.  Courses are also offered on a flexible schedule spanning a time period determined by the nature of the learning experience or the needs of the participants.  Below are the Lincoln Campus terms through July 2009.

When can I get a copy of the next term's schedule of classes?
The schedule for each term is released five weeks before the start date of the term.  You can request that a schedule be mailed to you, or you can view the schedule online.

How do I register for classes?
You will register using a pre-registration and formal registration process.

Pre-registration:

Pre-registration begins four weeks before each term and continues until the term begins.  Because we keep classes small, many classes fill and close rapidly.  Pre-registering reserves your space in a class.

There are four ways to pre-register:

  • You can pre-register on-line using Web Advisor at http://www.doane.edu/WA
  • You may phone-in your pre-registration by calling 466-4774.
  • You may e-mail your pre-registration to any advisor
  • You may stop by the Doane offices at 303 N. 52nd Street, Fred D. Brown Center.

Formal registration:
The difference between pre-registration and formal registration is the commitment of money.  You are not required to obligate yourself to pay for a class until formal registration.  Formal registration is normally held on the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday before a term begins on Monday.  To formally register, you must come to our offices in the New Century Building, 303 North 52nd Street, Lincoln.  You will find this registration process to be far less stressful than experiences you may have had at other institutions.  There will be no long lines or interminable waiting.

What is the cost of attending?
Undergraduate tuition for the 2008-2009 school year is $210 per credit. Graduate tuition for the MAC and MAM programs for the 2008-2009 school year is $284 per credit.  If your employer provides a tuition reimbursement plan or you have been approved for financial aid and are awaiting disbursement, you may sign a promissory note at the time of formal registration and defer payment for your enrollment.  Ask for more information on this option.
